ACT Community Sector Careers Gateway
Digital marketing, OOH advertising and UX/UI design
The Careers Gateway provides the ACT with information on careers in the community sector.
Challenge
Our task was to create a digital and print campaign to launch the ACT Government’s Community Sector Careers Gateway. Collaborating with a fellow designer, we developed digital and print ads educating Canberra on community sector job opportunities. The challenge was to manage each campaign with a limited budget and tight deadlines.
Solution
The ads appeared across high-traffic areas like trams, buses, shopping centers, and online via Google, Meta, and LinkedIn. The campaign drove a substantial increase in client enquiries, leading us to add a jobs board on their website. I implemented this feature, along with UX improvements to streamline navigation, helping users find positions more easily while providing a central hub for community sector organisations to post jobs.
Deliverables
UX/UI Analysis
Website refresh
Lightrail, Bus, Magazine ads, shopping centre ads, business cards and stickers.
Digital ad campaigns on Google, Meta and LinkedIn.
I co-led the project with another designer, managing it from start to finish. We designed all the assets, coordinated directly with suppliers, and I managed our Junior Designer in running the campaigns across Google, Meta, and LinkedIn.
UX problem
We had mentioned in initial meetings with the client that users would view the marketing campaigns and expect to find jobs on the ACT Careers Gateway website. The client assured us the Gateway was purely for information on the community sector.
Once the campaigns went live, the spike in job enquiries encouraged the client to implement a jobs board on the Gateway website.
I conducted an analysis of the website to address any other UX issues and designed the prototypes for the Jobs board.
Accessibility
We used WCAG AA accessibility guidelines for the website refresh.
Our developer used an accessibility plugin and alt text for the imagery. I designed the layouts using high contrast colours and proper text hierarchy to cater for screen readers.
